Site Purpose:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The web was used during the 2006-2007 school year as part of a new course offering within the FDR Business Department, entitled\u00a0 “E-Commerce”.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, the subsequent links were originally connected to a teacher webpage product known as My Teacher Pages.com<\/span><\/a>, an affiliate of School World and now acquired by Edline.com<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The website discussion forum<\/span><\/a> was created with an open-source bulletin board system called PhpBB<\/span><\/a>, which is, in fact, still the best open-release, free bulletin board candidate and is highly configurable with moderate to high level security depending upon moderator knowledge and usage.<\/span><\/p>\n

Direct application of relevant, real-world 21st century computer skills<\/span>
\nLearning of E-Commerce skills were partly modeled in class using Hyde Park Teddy Bears, Inc<\/span><\/a> (a fictional business start-up selling custom presidential teddy bears online)<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, the final capstone requirement of this 1\/2 credit business elective required students to seek and create an online presence for a local Hyde Park Business. Opening discussions into these various ideas can be found by visiting the discussion forum<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
