Welcome and Please Note

This classroom website is no longer active and is now available for evaluation and curriculum review purposes only.

Site Purpose:

The web was used during the 2006-2007 school year as part of a new course offering within the FDR Business Department, entitled  “E-Commerce”.

In addition, the subsequent links were originally connected to a teacher webpage product known as My Teacher Pages.com, an affiliate of School World and now acquired by Edline.com.

The website discussion forum was created with an open-source bulletin board system called PhpBB, which is, in fact, still the best open-release, free bulletin board candidate and is highly configurable with moderate to high level security depending upon moderator knowledge and usage.

If you have any questions about the content of this site or want further data analysis on usage for e-learning research purposes, please contact Mike Batira (mbatira@yahoo.com).

Key E-Commerce Course Highlights:

Direct application of relevant, real-world 21st century computer skills
Learning of E-Commerce skills were partly modeled in class using Hyde Park Teddy Bears, Inc (a fictional business start-up selling custom presidential teddy bears online)

In addition, the final capstone requirement of this 1/2 credit business elective required students to seek and create an online presence for a local Hyde Park Business. Opening discussions into these various ideas can be found by visiting the discussion forum.

Components of each e-commerce website creation needed to include the following support pages (again, partly modeled here using the Hyde Park Teddy Bear test bed project):
